NISM and SEBI Launch National Financial Literacy Quiz 2025 with Eastern Round in Kolkata

Kolkata, June 21, 2025 — In a bid to bolster financial literacy among India’s youth, the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM), in collaboration with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), launched the National Financial Literacy Quiz (NFLQ) 2025, beginning with the Eastern Regional Round held in Kolkata on June 21–22.

Hosted at the Bhawanipur Education Society College (NSHM Knowledge Campus), the event witnessed participation from students representing approximately 60 undergraduate and 50 postgraduate institutions across Eastern India, including states like West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, and Jharkhand.

Prior to the regional event, more than 2.5 lakh students across the country took part in an online preliminary round, reflecting the wide outreach and growing interest in financial literacy among the student community.

NFLQ 2025 forms a vital part of NISM’s ongoing efforts to promote financial awareness and educate students about financial markets, investor rights, and the role of market intermediaries. The initiative specifically targets undergraduate and postgraduate students, aiming to equip them with the knowledge necessary for making informed financial decisions.

Commenting on the launch, Shri Sashi Krishnan, Director of NISM, said, “Financial knowledge is an essential life skill. By engaging with young learners through initiatives like NFLQ, NISM is striving to nurture a more informed, confident and responsible generation.”

Shri Sanjay Sarwade, Chief General Manager and Regional Director, SEBI Eastern Regional Office, echoed the sentiment, stating, “Financial literacy is not just about money, it’s about empowering yourself with knowledge to make informed decisions.”

The grand finale will be held at the NISM Campus in Patalganga, Maharashtra, on November 8–9, 2025.

Awards and Recognition:

Top winners from both undergraduate and postgraduate categories will be felicitated with cash prizes: 1st Prize: ₹40,000, 2nd Prize: ₹30,000, 3rd Prize: ₹20,000.

NFLQ 2025 not only celebrates academic excellence but also emphasizes the importance of financial empowerment for the country’s next generation.
