News Sense is a digital-first journalism platform dedicated to Solutions Journalism and Fact-Checking. It aims to bridge the gap between media and social impact by focusing on evidence-based, constructive storytelling.

In other words, News Sense identifies and showcases stories of change led by communities, civil society organisations, and individuals.

Launched on 1st May 2017, News Sense is owned and published by Media Skills Lab.

Through its multimedia storytelling, in-depth reports, and rigorous fact-checking initiatives, News Sense serves as a trustworthy source of information, ensuring that journalism remains a force for positive change in society.

The Team

Editor, News Sense
Joydeep Dasgupta is the Editor of News Sense, a digital-first platform dedicated to Solutions Journalism and Fact Checking. He is also the Founder of Media Skills Lab, a Media Institute which champions Media Literacy, AI Literacy, and Fact-Checking in newsrooms and media institutions. Joydeep Dasgupta is an Accredited Defence Journalist certified by the Ministry of Defence since 2012. Since 2024, Joydeep also serves as a Mentor with the Asian American Journalists Association’s (AAJA) N3Con Mentorship Program, guiding emerging journalists across South, East, and Southeast Asia. He is a Trainer with the Google News Initiative India Training Network, Asian American Journalist Association and the Solutions Journalism Network, advocating for evidence-based reporting and countering misinformation throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
Tech. Head, News Sense
Sourav Roy Chowdhury is the Technical Head at News Sense, overseeing its digital infrastructure, performance, and long-term tech roadmap. An MCA by qualification, he brings years of expertise in building reliable, scalable software systems. He is also the Founder and Director of ADIENCE IT Services, a company specializing in custom software development and digital solutions. As a core member of the founding team, Sourav plays a key role in product strategy and technical execution. At News Sense, he ensures the platform operates seamlessly, supporting its mission with a strong and secure technological foundation. His focus on clean architecture and performance optimization helps drive a smooth user experience across devices and platforms.
