‘Rekha’ To Ensure Social Distancing During COVID-19 Lockdown

A B.Tech final year student has recently invented a gadget that is going to ensure social distancing norms during the lockdown amidst the ongoing COVID19 Pandemic.

Amit Singh Maurya, Student of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Heritage Insititute of Technology, Kolkata, invented the gadget that can be attached to one’s belt and gives alert when a person violates the social distancing norm of two meters.

Speaking to News Sense, Amit said, “It works on the basis of a sensor and this sensor sends the alert on coming in contact with infrared rays emitted from the human body“. He gave the name of the gadget ‘Rekha’ which now costs around 400 INR and can alert when anyone breaks the social distancing norm in any place.

In India where there are large number of population and people tend to break the norms, this gadget can come handy for them to prevent the Covid-19 from spreading. Currently, Amit is working on the development of an App ‘Drishti’, that will connect COVID19 Positive Patients to the Doctor online.
