Biplab Das: The Journey of Grit and Dreams towards Ironman Malaysia

Iron Man
Stories

In the lanes of Birati, West Bengal, lives a man whose story is not just about endurance sports, but about perseverance, purpose, and passion. Biplab Das, a Civic Volunteer, adventure sports explorer, and environmental activist, has dedicated his life to pushing physical boundaries while carrying messages of social and environmental responsibility. Today, he stands at the threshold of one of his biggest dreams  participating in the prestigious Ironman 70.3 Malaysia.

Biplab’s journey into endurance sports is marked with feats that echo determination. From swimming across five major rivers including the Hooghly, Rupnarayan, and even Bangladesh’s Meghna, to completing mountaineering courses from the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, his spirit knows no limits.

He has successfully participated in 37 marathons, spanning terrains from Darjeeling’s hills to Nepal’s Pokhara, and has braved extreme challenges in Satara, Delhi, and Odisha. His cycling expeditions are equally inspiring from Kolkata to Ladakh’s Khardung La, a cross-country ride from India to Bangladesh, and awareness journeys carrying messages like “Safe Drive, Safe Life” and “Save Ganga.”

For Biplab, every expedition has been more than a personal achievement; it has been an effort to raise awareness about environmental preservation, road safety, and the urgent need to keep the Ganga pollution-free.

The Ironman 70.3 Malaysia, held in Langkawi, is one of the world’s most challenging endurance competitions. Covering a 1.9 km swim, 90 km cycling, and a 21.1 km run, the triathlon is a true test of mental strength and physical stamina.

For Biplab, it’s more than just a race. It is a chance to represent India on a global stage, inspire the youth of his community, and prove that even with limited resources, dreams can soar high. While Biplab has the courage, discipline, and determination to participate in Ironman Malaysia, the journey is not without challenges. As a Civic Volunteer, his resources are limited. The most pressing need today is a professional-grade cycle, an essential gear for the event, which costs around ₹3,00,000 (3 lakhs).

Without this, his participation and years of preparation may remain a distant dream.Biplab’s story is not just his own; it is a testament to the spirit of countless Indians striving to make their mark internationally. By supporting him, we don’t just sponsor an athlete, we invest in a symbol of resilience, determination, and pride.

We appeal to individuals, organizations, and well-wishers to come forward and support Biplab Das by sponsoring the cycle he urgently needs. Your contribution can help him pedal towards his Ironman dream and carry India’s spirit onto the global stage.
