Narendrapur Blind Boys’ Academy Celebrates India’s 80th Independence Day with Patriotic Competitions
Ramakrishna Mission Blind Boys’ Academy, Narendrapur, organised a series of competitions and cultural activities on Saturday as part of the celebrations marking India’s 80th Independence Day. The programme aimed to instil patriotism, national pride, and a sense of active citizenship among students, with a special focus on encouraging the younger generation to reflect on the nation’s values and achievements.
The day featured an essay writing competition on the theme “ভারতবর্ষ আমার ভারতবর্ষ” (India, My India) for students of the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) and the Agriculture section. Participants expressed their thoughts on India’s heritage, diversity, and aspirations, highlighting their understanding of the country’s cultural richness and their hopes for its future.
A patriotic song competition was also organised for students from Classes IX to XII, along with those from the ITI and Agriculture sections. The performances created an atmosphere of unity and national pride, with students presenting songs celebrating India’s freedom, diversity, and spirit of service.
An exhibition showcasing artwork created by students of the ITI and Agriculture sections formed another major attraction of the event. The displays reflected the students’ creativity and artistic expression while portraying themes of patriotism, national development, and social harmony.
Students participated enthusiastically in all the competitions, demonstrating creativity, talent, and a deep sense of commitment to the ideals of the nation. Certificates and prizes were presented to the participants in recognition of their efforts and achievements.
The exhibition and competitions were visited by Shri Prasanta Giri, President of Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, and Shri Sunil Baran Pattanayek, former Principal of Blind Boys’ Academy. They interacted with students, viewed the exhibits, and appreciated the quality of the performances and creative works.
The organisers said the celebration successfully achieved its objective of inspiring students to uphold the values of patriotism, unity, and responsible citizenship. The enthusiastic participation of students, teachers, and staff contributed significantly to the success of the programme and reinforced the spirit of India’s 80th Independence Day celebrations.
