Amity University Kolkata Welcomes Over 2,500 Students at Orientation Programme 2026

Amity University Kolkata welcomed more than 2,500 new students at its Orientation Programme 2026, held at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, marking the beginning of the academic journey for the Class of 2026.

The orientation programme was attended by Amity University Chancellor Dr. Atul Chauhan, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Sanku Bose, Senior Vice President of Amity Education Group Shri U. Ramachandran and Vice President – Marketing, Outreach & Admission, Amity Education Group, Dr. Preeti Sahni. The programme began with a Vedic Hawan, ceremonial lamp lighting and Saraswati Vandana.

Addressing the newly admitted students, Prof. (Dr.) Sanku Bose emphasised the need to prepare students for a rapidly changing professional environment. He introduced the AUK Career 360 Framework, which aims to provide structured career development from the first day of the student’s academic journey, aligned with their aspirations, strengths and professional goals.

A key focus of the orientation was the university’s emphasis on preparing students for emerging professional challenges. Prof. Bose said that Artificial Intelligence and Financial Intelligence would be treated as essential skills for the future and announced that students would study both as part of their academic journey.

The university also announced the introduction of the Student Happiness Index. The initiative is aimed at capturing student feedback and using it to improve teaching, learning, campus life and the overall student experience.

Prof. Bose encouraged students to embrace the principle of “Collaboration over Competition”, urging them to learn from their peers, value diversity and participate actively in research and innovation. He also stressed the importance of developing the ability to work collectively to address complex problems.

Dr. Atul Chauhan highlighted the university’s focus on research-driven learning, interdisciplinary collaboration and holistic development. Shri U. Ramachandran, meanwhile, stressed adaptability, a global outlook and empathetic leadership as important qualities for students.

The orientation also reflected Amity’s global outlook, with students attending from different states across India as well as several countries. The university said the diversity of the student cohort would contribute to cross-cultural learning and inclusion.

Concluding his address, Prof. Bose urged students to look beyond conventional definitions of success and focus instead on the problems they can solve and the value they can create. He said the university’s objective was not merely to prepare students to survive a rapidly changing world, but to equip them to lead it.

The Orientation Programme 2026 marked the formal beginning of a new academic chapter for more than 2,500 students at Amity University Kolkata. With its emphasis on career development, artificial intelligence, financial competence, student wellbeing, research, collaboration and global awareness, the university reaffirmed its stated objective of developing graduates equipped to navigate and contribute to a rapidly evolving world.
