World’s First COVID19 Vaccine, Russia Claims To Have Developed One

At a time when the whole world is in the race to develop a cure of COVID-19, Vladimir Putin, President of Russia has launched a Coronavirus Vaccine, regarded as the world’s first vaccine named “Sputnik-V“.

The announcement came at a time when the novel coronavirus pandemic has already infected more than 20 million people and killed nearly 750,000 across the world crippling economies.

According to AFP, Vladimir Putin in a televised conference with government ministers has said, “This morning, for the first time in the world, a vaccine against the new coronavirus was registered“.

Putin also thanked everyone who worked on the development of the vaccine and described it as “a very important step for the world“. He also added that one of his two daughters has also received a shot of the vaccine and is doing well.

The World Health Organization however said that all vaccine candidates should go through full stages of testing before being rolled out.

More than 100 possible vaccines are being developed across the world to try to stop the virus from growing. At least four are in final Phase III human trials, according to WHO data.
