The culinary scene of Kolkata is poised for a landmark moment with the launch of the first edition of the Foodka Culinary Honours — a celebration of taste, tradition, and innovation. Conceptualized and curated by food historian and culinary content creator Indrajit Lahiri and foodpreneur Shiladitya Chaudhury, this much-anticipated awards platform aspires to become one of the most prestigious recognitions in the food industry.
The official press conference was attended by Mr. Manoj Jangid, General Manager of Fairfield by Marriott, and Mr. Sudesh Poddar, President of the Hotel & Restaurant Association of Eastern India (HRAEI), where the award categories were formally announced.
With Doctor’s Choice as the title sponsor and supported by the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Taratala as the audit partner, and HRAEI as the associate partner, the Foodka Culinary Honours 2025 will celebrate excellence across a wide spectrum of culinary segments. These awards will spotlight heritage and innovation within the food and beverage industry.
The honours will be presented across 11 distinctive categories: Indian (including Bengali, Biryani & Kebabs, and Bhaja Bhuji), Chinese, Pan Asian, Continental, Global, Bakery and Patisserie, Sweets, Café, Lounge & Bar, Vegetarian, and Quick Service Restaurants (QSR). In addition, a special ‘Hall of Fame’ recognition will be awarded to an individual or establishment for their exceptional contribution to the culinary world.

Fairfield by Marriott, Kolkata joins the initiative as the official hospitality partner and will host the grand awards night in July 2025. The event will be a glittering celebration bringing together top chefs, restaurateurs, food connoisseurs, and industry insiders.
