Consecration of Sri Ramakrishna’s New Vigraha at Ramakrishna Mission, Srinagar

The Ramakrishna Mission in Srinagar witnessed the sacred consecration ceremony of Sri Ramakrishna’s newly installed vigraha (statue). The event from 9th to 11th May 2024,  drew a large gathering of devotees from across the country.

The consecration was performed by the revered Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj, President of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, Kolkata. The ceremony was graced by several esteemed dignitaries, including Chief Justice of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court, Justice N Kotiswar Singh, Swami Bodhasararananda, Assistant General Secretary of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, Kolkata, Swami Sarvalokananda, Secretary of the Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi, and Swami Nikhileshwarananda, Adhyaksha of the Ramakrishna Math, Rajkot, Gujarat.

Speaking to News Sense, Swami Vinirmuktanandaji Maharaj, the Secretary of the Ramakrishna Mission, Srinagar, remarked, “It was indeed a historic moment for the Ramakrishna Mission in Srinagar. Thakur Maharaj’s image was consecrated by Srimat Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj, the President of our order. This event was particularly significant as it marked Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj’s first official visit after assuming the presidency of the international order.

The event commenced with a welcome address by Swami Vinirmuktananda, Secretary of the Ramakrishna Mission, Srinagar. The dignitaries delivered inspiring speeches, emphasizing the spiritual significance of the occasion and the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna.

Adding to the spiritual ambiance, renowned Odissi exponent Sri Jagat Jyoti Banerjee from Kolkata performed a captivating Odissi recital on the evening of 9th May. Furthermore, Swami Sukhananda, Adhyaksha of the Ramakrishna Math, Bhuj, sang the Ramacharit-manas, enriching the atmosphere with devotional fervor.

The consecration ceremony was a profound spiritual experience for all attendees, marking a significant milestone for the Ramakrishna Mission in Srinagar.
