Hemanter Aparanha: A Cinematic Journey Through Turmoil and Transformation

Acclaimed Filmmaker Sri. Goutam Ghosh recently unveiled the poster of Hemanter Aparhana, which is to hit the big screens in the month of June. The movie will see a unique blend of theatre and film starring Anusha Viswanathan, Rwitobroto Mukherjee and Satyapriya Mukhopadhyay in lead roles.

Ashok Viswanathan who returned to film direction after a long time, launched the poster of his next feature, Hemanter  Aparhana along with Sri Goutam Ghosh who attended the event as the chief guest, on the auspicious occasion of Rabindranath Tagore’s 163rd Birth Anniversary at ICCR, Kolkata.

The film takes the audience on an emotional journey through love, loss and the transformative power of art. It will make the viewers experience the raw and deep-seated emotions of life during the pandemic, set against the backdrop of a world struggling with the unrest caused by wars in Ukraine and the Middle East.

‘Hemanter Aparanha,’ a new film directed by award-winning filmmaker Ashoke Viswanathan, takes audiences on a poignant journey through love, loss, and the transformative power of art. The grand poster launch took place today at ICCR, Kolkata, where it was unveiled by Sri. Goutam Ghose, a renowned acclaimed filmmaker. The event was attended by Sri. Ashoke Viswanathan, the director; Sri. Amit Agarwal, the producer; and the stellar star cast of “Hemanter Aparanha.”

The film is a dynamic and dramatic visual exploration of the tensions of life during the pandemic and the atmosphere in a world stirred and shaken by the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East.

On this occasion, Sri. Ashoke Vishwanathan, the director and producer of “Hemanter Aparanha,” said, “The film, being shot in and around Kolkata, is set in the current COVID times and explores the behind-the-scenes of the theatre world and the struggles of artists. The plot tries to explore how people see their relationships with the happenings behind-the-scenes in films and theatres play a crucial part in the narrative. Anxiety and depression leading to suicides in recent times is also a major theme of this film.

Speaking to the media, Amit Agarwal, the producer of “Hemanter Aparanha,” said, “Though the film deals with the agony of solitude of an elderly widower which was portrayed in few films in the past too, but this time Ashoke Viswanathan interestingly has used a play of Luigi Pirandello as a parallel.

Amit has earlier backed at the initial stage film ‘M S Dhoni- The Untold Story’ and has produced films like ‘Simran’ starring Kangana Ranaut and yet to be released ‘Raahgir’ directed by acclaimed filmmaker Goutam Ghose. With Hemanter Aparanha he seems to be in high spirits and is thrilled that he is presenting the Bengali audience yet again a different film and believes that it will be liked by the audience.

The film features a stellar cast, including Anusha Viswanathan, Rwitobroto Mukherjee, and Satyapriya Mukhopadhyay in central roles. A strong supporting cast includes Bidipta Chakraborty. The music is composed by Gourab Chatterjee with songs by Lokhichara. Cinematography is by Joydeep Bhowmick, and editing is by National Award winner Arghyakamal Mitra. “Hemanter Aparanha” is produced by Amit Agarwal and Ashoke Viswanathan on behalf of Adarsh Telemedia and AV Productions.
