Students Walk from Aurobindo Bhawan to Netaji Bhawan, Celebrating the Spirit of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’

On 20th August 2022, a Heritage walk from Aurobindo Bhawan to Netaji Bhawan (1.6Km) was organized by Vivekananda Kendra, Paschim Banga Pranta in association with Kolkata Nivedita Shakti and IEM (Institute of Engineering and Management) with the participation of 75 students marking the 75th Anniversary of Indian Independence in tune with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Around 35 Guardians and Karyakartas of Vivekananda Kendra too walked with the students.

The idea behind organizing the walk is to make the next generation aware of the contribution of Rishi Aurobindo and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, when the whole nation celebrating the 75th in grand manner. Before the start of the walk the students were guided through the Aurobindo Museum at Aurobindo Bhawan, which was the residence of Sri Aurobindo Ghosh, who later becomes Rishi Aurobindo.

In the presence of Shri Pravin Dabolkar, All India Treasurer of Vivekananda Kendra, Shri Vishwas Lapalkar, Prant Sanghatak, Vivekananda Kendra, Paschim Banga Prant and Malavika Chatterjee, Saha Pramukh and others, Shri Bhaskar Banerjee, Researcher on Sri Aurobindo unfolded various unknown facts connected to the lives of Swami Vivekananda, Shri Aurobindo and Netaji Subhash Bose saying, “the spirit behind Sri Aurobindo’s patriotism is directly linked to the lineage of Swami Vivekananda, Sri Aurobindo and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in a unique manner. In 1893 Sri Aurobindo came back to India after 14 years to fight for the freedom of the country while in 1893 Swami Vivekananda sailed to the western world to reveal the inner wealth, the essence of Indian Civilization and Culture”, he said.

The rally started at 3pm towards Netaji Bhawan from Shri Aurobindo Bhawan. On reaching Netaji Bhawan at 3.30 all the participants visited Netaji Bhawan Museum located in Elgin Road, Kolkata. Students were later asked to submit a write-up within 300 words about their experience and feeling about the walk.
