A video has been doing round on social media claiming that a particular religious community, now using public roads to offer their morning prayers (Aazaan) and the trend is becoming very popular in the state of West Bengal.
We at News Sense received several requests to verify the authenticity of the video. Accordingly we started our investigation. We used the video to verify its authenticity using the video verification tool – InVID and found an sign board, claiming to be the place is Howrah in West Bengal.
This means the video is real and from West Bengal and to find out the truth behind the video we contacted Shri Sudhakar, Commissioner of Police, Howrah District. Speaking to News Sense, Shri Sudhakar said, “The video is from Philkhana under Golabari Police Station in Howrah District. This is an old video. During the first lockdown in the year 2020, local Imams did prayers to get rid of Coronavirus and they shouted Go Corona go, apart from their religious prayer”.
So, with our own investigation and official confirmation we can say that the video which has been doing round is an original video but the claim with which the video has been used is wrong, so we can say that the message is not correct.

Conclusion: It is old video of prayers during the first lockdown in the year 2020, local Imams did prayers to get rid of Coronavirus.
