Yash Agarwalla wins Asia’s first-ever Long Drive Tour

Kolkata’s Yash Agarwalla sealed victory at the inaugural edition of the Long Drive Tour of South Asia with a 296 yards long drive at the Tollygunge Club to win Asia’s first-ever long drive tour. Protouch Sports along with My Golf Tours have jointly launched Asia’s first-ever long drive golf event – the Long Drive Tour of South Asia, which witnessed the participation of over 80 golfers from age of 6 years to 70 years.

Asia has never before seen a structured long drive tour till today. Various events have pop up long drive competitions but no structured tour. Tollygunge club creates history by kicking off Asia’s first long drive tour. The tour plans to visit four countries and 12 venues in its first year. Today the event saw a serious competition in various age categories followed by a Tolly members team long drive competition. The prizes were sponsored by Travis Matthew and Callaway. One will need to keep in mind the stiff headwind and soft fairway when one sees the distance hit by golfers. A 290-yard drive would have been a 325-yard drive easily under calm conditions and firmer fairways.

The first and second runner-ups in Open & Open Amateur categories were Rakshik Basu (288 yards), and Sukanta Mondal (281 yards). The golf captain of the Tollygunge Club, Mayukh Ray won in the mid-amateur category with 263 yards, followed by two mid-am golfers from FWEPTA, Lt. Col Dushyant (251 yards, and Col Rajat Sharma (263 yards). In Ladies, Karishma Samadder defeated Sinjini Mukherjee in a breath-taking playoff, as both shot 229 yards. Jayanta Gohain shot 277 drive, and won in the Senior Category, followed by Gaurav Ghosh (242 yards), Dr. RK Gopalakrishna (215 yards). CV Muralidhar became the winner of Super Senior Category as he shot 252 yards, followed by Ravi Kataruka (226 yards), and JL Roy (202 yards). Rakshik Basu won in over-13 Juniors category with his 288 yards drive, followed by Saquib Hussain (275 yards), and Aprameya Sirothia (275 yards). Aditya Khaitan won in under-13 Juniors category with his 251 yards drive, followed by Lakshya Agarwal (235 yards), Ahaan Agarwal (220 yards).

The event is the brainchild of Protouch and My golf tours and is sponsored by Callaway golf and Travis Matthew. The official knowledge partner is Champ for Life Academy. Golftrade.net is the media partner and Balaji ads is the outdoor media partner. Golfedgeindia is the online proshop partner.
