At a time when almost all the political parties in the country are playing a divisive politics, ordinary citizens of this country, come together to show the real spirit of unity in diversity, on the basis of which a great nation like India, stands. The occasion was the last rites of a Hindu farmer, which was done following his faith by most of the Muslim neighbour at Desher Mahan village in West Burdwan.
70 years old Ramdhani Rajak, died after suffering from injury from a fall from a tree. The septuagenarian use to live with his wife and mentally unstable younger son at Desher Mahan village in West Burdwan district of West Bengal. Rajak’s family is the only Hindu family in the muslim populated village. So, when Rajak died, his last rites were conducted by his muslim neighbours following the Hindu rituals.
Speaking to News Sense, Sheikh Firdous, a neighbour said, “After the accident we took him to hospital immediately and have visited five hospital in Raniganj to Durgapur but couldn’t be admitted due to COVID situation. The beds in ICCU was also not available there. Then we took him to Nursing home but he died on the stretcher.”
Later Firdous and others, arranged for everything so to give Rajak a befitting farewell, following his faith. Hence, this small village of Burdwan has witnessed an unprecedented event of communal harmony, upholding the message of unity for everyone in the country to live with the spirit.
