The troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) of South Bengal Frontier, rescued scarlet birds while these were being smuggled from Bangladesh to India. These exotic birds were being smuggled by smugglers through the location of Border Out Post Tetulberia, 158 Battalion, under district North 24 Parganas in West Bengal.
On 24 November, 2020, the troops of Border Out Post Tentulberia, 158 Battalion, under Sector Kolkata, laid an ambush near suspected area after receiving Intelligence input. At about 2020 hours, BSF troops Observed some Suspicious persons were sitting behind Bamboo bushes in forest area and challenged them. Noticing BSF troops, the miscreants fled away in different direction taking advantage of dense Vegetation.
During search of the forest area, troops recovered 03 cage boxes from the spot. Total 08 birds were rescued from these 03 cages wherein 06 were Red scarlet Macaw and 02 Blue scarlet Macaw. The rescued birds are being handed over to Director Zoological Garden, Alipore, Kolkata through Custom Office Petrapole.
