54 Rare Lory Birds Rescued from Indo Bangla Border

The Border Security Force troops of South Bengal Frontier seized 54 Birds during the Anti-Trans Border crime operations on 20 Oct, 2020. These Birds were being smuggled through the border district North 24 Parganas.

Acting on specific information, the troops of BOP Tentulberia, 158 Battalion, under Sector Kolkata, carried out a search operation near forest area of village Shah Para and adjoining area Pipli village. During search operation, the troops observed suspicious movement of miscreants hiding behind bamboo bushes. Noticing BSF troops, the miscreants fled away. Later during thorough search of the spot, troops recovered two iron cages containing the birds. 

Seizure detail are as follows:

i) Chattering Lory- 11 Nos

ii) Red and Blue Lory- 13 Nos

iii) Black Capped Lory- 08 Nos

iv) Black Lory- 08 Nos

v) Brown Lory- 06 Nos

vi) Violet Necked Lorry- 08 Nos

Seized Birds have been handed over to Director Zoological Garden, Alipore in Kolkata through Custom Office Petrapole in the Indo Bangladesh Border.
