Owing to the present situation caused by COVID 19 Pandemic, a Puja Committee in Kolkata has come up with an innovative blend of puja proceeding featuring online and the Durga chariot reaching nearer to the devotees maintaining safer distance in the City of Joy. The committee has found the innovative way where the devotees to pay obeisance to Maa Durga even without visiting to the pandal.
The Jodhpur Park Puja Committee are also portraying the handicrafts and architectures of six districts in West Bengal as the theme for this year’s Durga Puja. The chariot of Goddess Durga will be decorated with paintings conveying visual messages to combat the deadliest coronavirus. It will be decked up with the theme music and light. This is one way of granting darshan to the devotees on the four days of extravaganza.
Speaking to News Sense, Anirban Bose of Jodhpur Park Puja Committee said, “Considering the pandemic situation, our utmost goal is the safety of our visitors. Considering the footfall in our pandal every year, it is next to impossible to conduct the temperature checking using thermal guns and maintaining social distancing among the visitors. Hence we have planned to stream puja processing online as well as on the giant LED screens. As we are not allowing any visitors inside the pandal, they can even enjoy watching the same on the big screens outside our pandal.”
This year, durga puja celebration for the committee will be a low key affair, perceiving the economic downfall .The committee has decided to construct a three-sided open-air erect marquee, allowing the visitors to get the glimpse of the idol from a safe distance.
“As, no visitors will be allowed inside the pandal. The visitors can get the glimpse of the idol while walking around the park, maintaining physical distance. This is an alternative approach, as we thought visitors can have a feel of the Puja without any risk,” said general secretary of the committee, Sumanta Roy.
The Puja rituals will be live-stream through giant screens across a stretch of one km area leading to the pandal. Live streaming will be available on their application (app) as well as on the puja committee’s website (www.jodhpurparkdurgapujo.com).
Hence, considering the safety guidelines – traveling Goddess Durga , virtual Durga puja celebration with the allowance on visiting the pandal from outside, will be a part of Durga Puja for Jodhpur Park in the new normal. The Puja of the committee will be inaugurated and open for public from 20th October 2020.
Great to know that..
