New Kolkata Development Authority better known as NKDA has set up a COVID war room in order to keep a close watch on the residential complexes and areas in habitat by people so to check and bring out timely solution if any Covid positive case comes up.
Speaking to News Sense, NKDA Chairman, Debasish Sen, IAS said, “We have already set up a COVID war room on the top floor of the Health Centre, located behind Biswa Bangla Convention Centre. The war room is comprising of Specialists, Doctors, Engineers, HIDCO, and NKDA officials, where we meet every day to analyze our observation that day and plan our activities for the next day”.
Regular follow up is done in areas such as, what are the new containment zone and were the sealed containment zone is to be lifted. How many patients are there in the quarantine centre and how many have been discharged that day. NKDA has also started a daily Homeopathy camp and reaching out to the people with preventive pills. The routine and selection of the areas are done every day in the war room. All these activities are being done with the guidance of the state Health Department and the Government.
Mr. Sen also added, “NGO’s and Police are also been informed to attend the daily meet at the war room. NKDA has also kept a conference room for NGO’s to be used every day before 9 pm to discuss and organize awareness and training workshops”.
NKDA has already started door-to-door surveys across New Town to find out if anyone has any kind of respiratory trouble or fever. If there is any new member arriving in housing complexes and also to watch the residents who are under self-quarantine. NKDA is also exploring avenues by preparing a list of doctors in the New Town, who can advice patients over phone in case of any emergency.
