A WhatsApp message with the list of 21 dos and don’ts has been doing rounds on WhatsApp as an instruction released by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi. The misleading message further alerts, Lockdown or no lockdown next 6 to 12 months everyone must follow these precautions.
We at News Sense received the message from many of our readers, with the request to find out the truth, so we started our investigation. While investigating we found that ICMR has not issued any such notification so far, which it normally does through updated Press Releases under Media section on its website.
We then spoke Dr Rajani Kant, Head, Research Management, Policy, Planning and Coordination (RMPPC) Cell at ICMR headquarters, New Delhi. Speaking to News Sense Dr Rajani Kant said, “The WhatsApp message is fake news. We request all the media to carry that this is a fake news and no such points are released by ICMR as of now“.
Thus from the primary investigation it is clear that the WhatsApp message with 21 do’s and dont’s is not real but a fake one.
Claim: ICMR has issued 21 do’s and dont’s to be followed by every citizen.
Conclusion: ICMR has not issued any do’s and dont’s for anyone.
NB: Don’t share or forward any misleading information on your social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp, by doing so you are also becoming someone, who is creating panic and confusion among the larger mass and this is a punishable offense.
