Indian Defence Forces to join the Nation to thank COVID-19 Warriors

The collective forces of the Army, Navy, and Air force will join together to thank the Corona warriors on 3rd May 2020, who are working tirelessly for months in India fighting the Pandemic. In the morning at 09.30 hrs, the tri-service chief will participate in the wreath-laying ceremony in Delhi thereby officially inaugurating the day long thanksgiving.

The aerial salute to the Corona Warriors by the Indian Airforce and Indian Navy will start from Delhi, they will cover all major towns of the country from Srinagar to Thiruvananthapuram and Dibrugarh to Kutch between 1000-1030 hrs. Fighter aircraft such as Sukhoi-30 MKI, MiG-29 and Jaguar will participate in the thanksgiving.

They will fly past over the Hospitals treating Coronavirus patients by showering flower petals as a tribute to the Corona warriors (Doctors, Medical Staffs, Sanitizer workers, Media) across the country including Kolkata’s CNCI and Command Hospital. Naval Helicopters would shower petals on hospitals in Mumbai, Goa, Kochi, and Vizag between 1000-1030 hours.

In the evening, naval ships at sea on the coasts of Mumbai, Porbandar, Karwar, Vizag, Chennai, Kochi, and Port Blair would light up and fire flares in solidarity.

The Indian Coast Guard is also actively taking part in the ‘India Thanks COVID-19 Warriors’ initiative by the ships on the same day at 25 locations covering the entire coastline of the country including the remote sites and far-flung island territories of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and Minicoy islands. In addition, ICG helicopters will also shower petals on COVID-19 hospitals at five locations.
