Meal and Laali, two latest offbeat films were released before the Kolkata audience by Owlz Neck Studio, helmed by Sireesha Kadiyala, Madhu Singhee and Sushila Jain is perhaps the only all women-owned film production house in the city. Meal and Laali are directed by Abhiroop Basu. Aakash Ghoshal is one of the producers of Laali.
Meal is an internationally acclaimed 11-minute dialogue-less film, portraying a dysfunctional family which sits together for their customary morning meal amidst communal tension outside. Starring Adil Hussain, Ratnabali Bhattacharjee, Arun Mukhopadhyay, Avishek Jain.
The film was produced in the last half of 2018 and since then it has been traveling to international festivals earning rave reviews, which includes a few prestigious selections like Arizona International Short Film Festival followed by official selections at the 19th New York Indian Film Festival, International Film Festival of South Asia, Toronto, Ottawa International Film Awards, Filmstrip International Film Festival Romania, where it was the only Indian Entry among 65 selected shorts world-wide.

Madhu Singhee, speaking on behalf of the producers, mentioned, “It has received a World Premiere offer from Ottawa International Indian Film Awards where the Director and the Actor have been invited. Laali also happens to be Pankaj Tripathi’s first proper Hindi short film.”
