Prototype Design for ‘Mankind’

‘Prototype Design for Mankind’ is the 4th Inter College Competition organized by The Department of Applied Electronics, Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata (HITK) on 12th April. Dr. K. Muraleedharan, Director, CSIR-CGCRI inaugurated the Competition in the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Arup Kumar Raychaudhuri. Dr. Arpan Pal, Chief Scientist and Research Area Head, Embedded Systems and Robotics, TCS Research and Innovation, Dr. Sukhendu Samajdar, Director, EKTA Incubation Centre, MAKAUT were also present.

The programme started with the lamp lighting ceremony and an opening speech by Dr. Madhurima Chattopadhyay, HOD, Department of Applied Electronics and Instrumentation, HITK who described the achievements of the Department since its inception in 2001.

The competition was participated by the students of engineering from various technical institutes across West Bengal like Asansol Engineering College, Haldia Institute of technology, Techno India International New Town, Future Institute of Engineering and Management, Guru Nanak Institute of technology (GNIT), Narula Institute of Technology, Techno India Main Saltlake and Academy of Technology. The competition displayed some of the innovative project based on research made by the students in different sectors to improve the quality of life for mankind. 

Projects like Automatic Accident detection system (HITK), Heart Rate monitoring system using micro controller (Techno Indio International), Semi-automated Smart Safety car (Techno India International New town), Low cost modifies incubator for chicken eggs (Future Institute of Engg. and management), Generation of Electrical Energy from Footsteps (AOT), Smart India weather monitoring system (Techno India International), Innovative water purifying system (Techno India Main Saltlake), Smart Blind Stick (HITK & Haldia Institute of Technology), Pulse Abnormality detector (GNIT), Portable Multi Seasonal Heater and Cooler (Asansol Engg. College), Hybrid Air Purifier (Narula Institute of technology), Agro product Analyzer (HITK) and many more.

At last the winners were Asansol Engineering College for their project ‘Innovative Portable Insulin Cooler’ and the 1st and 2nd runners up position was secured by Techno India International.
