For last 10 days, Kerala is struggling the worst flood in the state. Along with rescue operations by Defence Forces and various voluntary organisations, many generous individuals have come forward to be with the people of Kerala in this hour of turmoil across the country. In one such inspiring act, a Kerala based Journalist has cancelled his daughter engagement and donated the entire money to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund instead, so that it can be utilized for the people in need.
As the state is struggling PM Manoj, who is also the resident editor of Deshabhimani, first spoke to his daughter’s would be in laws and both the families agreed to cancel the engagement which was scheduled to take place today in Kannur and donate the entire amount for the welfare of thousands of homeless people in the state.
In a Facebook Post, PM Manoj declared, “The engagement and ring exchange of my daughter Devi and that of Advocate Sudhakaran, son Advocate Gokul, was scheduled for August 19. But considering the unprecedented natural disaster, which Kerala has been facing, the function is being cancelled. We, both the families, have decided to donate the money set aside for that to the Distress Relief Fund of the Chief Minister”.
