The fourth International Day of Yoga was celebrated with much enthusiasm and gusto by the Army, Navy, Air Force, NCC & Coast Guard in the country.
Eastern Command celebrated with the theme “Yoga for Harmony & Peace” all over the Command theatre. A large number of troops, their families and local citizens participated from far flung areas of the East & NE regions to spread the awareness and promote a healthy lifestyle.
INS Netaji Subhas held workshop cum practice yoga sessions by prominent yoga instructors. The workshop was based on the common yoga protocol released by Min of Ayush, Govt of India. Starting with an opening prayer, it was followed by standing & sitting yoga postures, pranayam, breathing techniques and meditation.
Around 400 Air Warriors participated in the yoga sessions with a lot of zeal at the Air Force School, Barrackpore.
Sixty nine thousand NCC cadets, 80 officers, 350 military personnel, 250 civil staff from W. Bengal & Sikkim practised yogasanas under the tutelage of expert yoga teachers .
Around 100 military personnel and 19 thousand cadets practised in Kolkata Maidan & different educational institutions. Coast Guard personnel has reached out to the extremities of W. Bengal wherein a special campaign at Frazerganj by the hovercraft squadron demonstrated various asanas and their benefits.
