A Cricket League to cheer up Children

Like every year this year too, Parivar Premiere League (PPL) is held amidst fun and noble thoughts at Eden Gardens on 4th March. The Parivar Premiere League is a charity match which was successfully organised by Parivar, to support the underprivileged children of the society.

Anindita Banerjee Tamta, Founder Secretary, Parivar, speaking to News Sense said, “Since 2011, Parivar has initiated a cricketing event where celebrities from Kolkata take part to play to raise funds and awareness about the activities of Parivar. The matches are held at Eden, India’s cricketing haven.”

2-3-300x228 A Cricket League to cheer up ChildrenThe 6th PPL stared with the first match is between two teams – Saturday Club and Team Jiyo, while the next match was played between Team Balaji and Team Jito. 10 overs each innings. The audiences in the gallery cheering the teams were mostly the children from different areas for whom the match has been organised. In between the two matches. Gifts comprising of colour books, colour pencil, bags, books were given to the children by the ladies circle club and Tollywood celebrities.

The fund raise during the charity match, will be used to support 1036 kids, who fall under the jurisdiction of nine police stations, namely – Taltala, Cossipore, Sinthi, Noatala, Topsia, Gariahat, West Post, South Post and North Post. Parivar has been extensively working in the field of education of the underprivileged children in and around Kolkata through number of projects.
