Photo walk is a very common event nowadays as Photography is gaining popularity at a very rapid pace. Most of the times Photo walks are organised by organizations where a number of photographers participate. However, it is not mandatory for every participant to be well acquainted with the rules and compositions of photography, as photo walks are more of a fun event.
Recently The Lions Club International of Rabindra Sarobar organized one such Photo walk with the theme as Social Responsibility. The event named as Lensethon started at 9:00 am sharp in the morning for which the participants had to register before with a nominal fee of 50 rupees.
The event started at the Rabindra Sarobar Lake where nearly 10 people participated and then they even moved to the Dhakuria Lake and reached Golpark. They had the option of clicking using DSLR cameras or even phone cameras but the photographs must depict the theme of Social Responsibility, was the main criteria.
Speaking to News Sense, Subhodrika Sen, the coordinator of the event said, “Since the Lions Club International mainly focuses on works related to social significance, so we have chosen the theme for the photo walk as Social responsibility, we come across every day around us”.
Another competition held after the photo walk where the participants has the option to submit their best photographs or can participate in the online competition by submitting the photographs based on the given theme. On being asked by News Sense, what is the inspiration behind participating in the event, one of the participants, Tiasha said, “I have not learnt photography professionally but my passion for photography has led me to participate in the photo walks”.
There were also some participants who had been experiencing photo walk for the very first time but for them coming to the event and experiencing it was important and fun filled as the theme was quiet interesting and varied as people can interpret it in various ways.
