Fast Patrol Vessel for Indian Coast Guard Launched

Fast Patrol Vessels ships numbering five, built for the Indian Coast Guard by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE) was “launched “ at the Raja Bagan Dockyard Unit of GRSE, Kolkata on 30th December 2017.

Following maritime traditions, the ship was “launched” by Smt Kadambari Saxena, wife of Rear Admiral VK Saxena, IN (Retd), Chairman and Managing Director (GRSE). Rear Admiral AK Verma (Retd), former Chairman and Managing Director, GRSE, who was also the Chief Guest of the event, expressed his pride that most of the ships delivered to Indian Navy in the past year were built by GRSE. Shri Verma also congratulated GRSE for their dedication and also for getting the coveted contract of five Fast Patrol Vessels for the Coast Guard and he urged the engineers and workers to deliver the vessels on time.

Photo-3-300x190 Fast Patrol Vessel for Indian Coast Guard LaunchedThe entire design of these Fast Patrol Vessels ships has been developed in-house by GRSE as per requirements specified by Indian Coast Guard.The ship is 50M long, 7.5M wide with a displacement of around 308 Tons. The ship is designed for a maximum speed of 34 knots with an endurance of more than 1500 nautical miles. She is equipped with three Main Engines with advanced control systems, Water jet units and an ‘Integrated Bridge System’ integrating all communication and navigation systems. These ships are also fitted with 40/60 Gun as main armament and will also have improved habitability features with fully air conditioned modular accommodation for 35 personnel.
