Music is an art form, which includes the creation of songs, tunes and symphonies. The creation, performance, significance and even the definition of music vary in according to culture and social context. Music in India is an integral part of socio-religious life. Indian philosophers defined music as the harmony of the Sphere. The music of India includes multiple varieties of Indian classical music, folk music, filmi and Indian pop.
Kolkata, the cultural capital of India will soon going to host almost all forms of music under the banner of Golden Deer Creations and Entertainment Private Limited, which is going to present their first such musical event “Music Oceania” for all music lovers, music enthusiast and music connoisseurs at Kalamandir Auditorium on 14th December, 2017 evening. There will be total three events in the country- first is in Delhi at Sir fort Auditorium on 13th December, secondly in Kolkata on 14th December at Kalamandir and third in in Mumbai on 17th December at Ranga Sharada.
When asked about the objective behind organising the event, Mr Sukant Banerjee, Founder and Managing Director of Golden Deer Creations and Entertainment Private limited and also a passionate music lover said, “today’s generation is unaware of various classical events, it is our responsibility to educate them. Golden Deer took it as an initiative and started promoting classical music and dance by conducting events across India. Entertainment also relieves stress for some time”.
In the event “Music Oceania” seven talented musicians will accompany Sandeep Das, a recent winner of the prestigious GRAMMY and artists from different parts of the world to entertain the audiences.
Sandeep Das is one of the leading internationally acclaimed tabla maestro in the world today. He has performed with major symphony orchestras, string quarters and jazz musicians at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Centre, Hollywood Bowl, Royal Albert Hall and Concertgebouw. He had also performed at prestigious events such as 150 years celebrations of the United Nations at its General Assembly Hall in New York, opening ceremony of the Special Olympic in Shanghai, opening ceremony of the first Asia Expo in China. He has won the 2017 GRAMMY award for the best world music album ‘ Sing Me Home’. He is the founder of HUM (Harmony and Universality through music) to promote global understanding through musical performance.
Mr Wu Tong is a Grammy Award Winner 2005 from china and is a Singer and Sheng and Bawu player. Sixteen years old Wu Tong is included in the Central Music Conservatory and was the youngest Solo instrumentalist of Central Traditional Music and Dance Company of China, performing in China and abroad.
Mr Michael Glen Block is also a Grammy Award Winner, an American cellist, singer, composer, and arranger and solo artist hailed as “the Ideal Musician of the twenty-first century” by Cultural icon Yo-Yo Ma.
Ms Celia Wood Smith is a Grammy nominated performer and songwriter from USA. She developed her own style and hailed as having a one kind of voice, muscular, folksy and intimate sometimes all at once. In 2014 it was nominated for a GRAMMY in Blue Grass Music Best album for their recording of “This World off Can Be”.
Mr Matt Small Bio from USA is a gifted bass player and composer. He performs rich range of classical, jazz and indigenous music. He had performed with artists such as Yo-Yo Ma. His music had been featured on NPR in USA, NHK in Japan and Swiss Broadcasting Corporation.
Ms Hanneke Cassel is from Oregon, USA and her music is a blend of the contemporary and traditional. She had performed with Baroque and Celtic group Ensemble Galilei at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC and for National Geographic’s in Washington, D.C.
Ms Irina Solinas is from Italy, graduated from the Conservatory of Music G. Verdi in Milan. She also graduated cum laude at the conservatory G. Frescobaldi in Ferrara, Italy. She specialized in chamber music.
“Kolkata has been the pioneer city in Indian renaissance. It has long been known for its literary, artistic and revolutionary heritage. Bengalese tends to have special appreciation for art and literature. Its tradition of welcoming new talent has made it City of Joy with creative energy”, said Indira Bhattacharya, advisor of Golden Deer Creations, when asked why Kolkata is chosen as the venue of this International event.
Golden Deer Creations and Entertainment Private limited is an organisation, established in 2017 with experienced managerial and technical personnel to organise large events with creativity to provide unique and memorable entertainments with grandeur and cultural adherence.
