Data Science Foundation, a non profit entity dedicated to the cause of Data Science (analytics and big data),  has been organizing International Data Science Summit in Kolkata since 2014. The 4th Annual International Data Science Summit was organised on 11 August 2017 at The Park, Kolkata. The Department of Information Technology & Electronics, Govt. of West Bengal is hosting the Summit and NASSCOM is supporting this flagship event. Shri Bratya Basu, Minister-in-Charge, Dept of IT & Electronics inaugurated the Summit as the Chief Guest of the Summit.

The  summit witnessed corporate speakers from the likes of Ericsson, Business Brio, Microsoft, Data Brio Academy, Publicis, Sapient, Protiviti, ANZ, Deep Identity, Honeywell, Ideal Analytics, IIM Ahmedabad among  others.

This is the only Data Science Summit organized in India since 2014. Decision makers, influencers and key data scientists from start-ups to biggies in the Big Data Analytics domain, companies across India including research faculties from coveted academia join this platform to deliberate on applications and products related to Analytics, Big Data, Data Mining, and Business Intelligence including capacity enablement.  The 3rd edition of the world’s first print magazine on data science – Data Astronaut was also be launched during the event.

Data Science Excellence Awards were conferred upon corporates – Deep Identity & RPG- CESC and Young Data Science Leadership Award  was given to  Tanmoy Mukhopadhyay, MBB, ANZ.

Mr. Gautam Banerjee, Founder President of Data Science Foundation said that there is enormous opportunity for start ups and new generation professionals in the domain of Data Science and CXOs of companies need to also understand how to differentiate between IT application implementation and analytics applications to avoid failures in this new domain.
